Introduction to Bahá'í

The teachings of Bahá'u'lláh (The Glory of God), founder of the Bahá'í Faith in Persia in the early 19th century, are vast in scope, exploring such things as:

  • the nature and purpose of revelation
  • the inherent nobility of the human being
  • the cultivation of spiritual qualities
  • the interaction of humanity with the natural world

The Bahá'í faith does not have a priesthood, but it does have an administrative order. We meet in our homes, at least every nineteen days according to the Bahá'í calendar.

Beliefs

  • All humanity is one family.
  • Women and men are equal.
  • All prejudice – racial, religious, national or economic – is destructive and must be overcome.
  • Science and religion are in harmony.
  • Our economic problems are linked to spiritual problems.
  • The family and its unity are very important.
  • There is one God.
  • All major religions come from God.
  • World peace is the crying need of our time.
  • The independent investigation of truth.
