Wellbeing Services

Prospective students

Before you start university, or as you register in your first term, you may want to know the advice, information and support available to you if you experience any of the following:

  • Specific learning difficulty or other neurodivergence;
  • Mental health difficulty;
  • Physical disability;
  • Sensory impairments;
  • A long term medical condition.

Many students find it useful to have a support plan in place for the start of term. You may have specific accommodation needs, to tell us about, because of your disability.  To help us make appropriate and timely arrangements for you, we’ve created a checklist of the main things you will need to do:

Accommodation Support

We endeavour to support all eligible students, but please be aware if you submit your form after the accommodation guarantee deadline of 31st July we may not be able to put all your accommodation support in place.

We aim to respond to your Prospective Student form submission within one month, but please be aware that it may take us slightly longer to reply during busy periods.

Once we receive your form, we will either:

Create an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for you, which informs relevant University departments of the reasonable adjustments we recommend for your learning and teaching, including any examination adjustments. We will confirm this to you by email.

Or

We will pass your details to our admin team who will contact you to arrange a suitable time to have an appointment with an Accessibility Advisor or Mental Health Practitioner to discuss your support in more detail.

Once you have enrolled  you are welcome to book a further appointment with an AccessAbility Advisor or Mental Health Practitioner to review your support or amend your ILP.

If you need modified accommodation or have specific requirements, you will need to specify the support that would be of benefit to you on the Prospective Student form above. If you are unsure of options available to you and you are applying for a course based on our campuses in Exeter, Devon, read the guidance available on the Accommodation webpage. If you are applying for a course based in Cornwall, please see information on accessible rooms and additional requirements.

Please also fill out the separate accommodation application that opens in the April before your course starts:
