Professor Michael Adas is the Abraham E. Voorhees Professor and Board of Governor?€?s Chair at Rutgers University. His books include Machines as the Measure of Men: Science, Technology, and Ideologies of Western Dominance (1989) and Dominance by Design: Technology, Social Engineering and America?€?s Civilizing Mission (2006). His talk will be related to a collaborative book project he is currently working on. It will focus on the early modern developments in Western Europe and China.
