Mia Taylor-Seal

Mia Taylor-Seal is the Education and Employability Officer of the Students’ Guild and is fulfilling the representative role of President of the Students’ Guild on Council in alignment with statutory requirements.
As the elected Education and Employability Officer, she champions equitable education, research and employment opportunities. She is a proud working-class, state-educated, first-generation student from the Black Country and she is committed to creating a university where students can succeed without having to compromise their identity or sense of belonging.
Before her election, Mia studied BA History, specialising in working-class history and belonging in higher education, earning national recognition for her research. She re-founded and co-led the multi-award winning Exeter 93% Club and worked as a Success For All Intern and led initiatives tackling class inequality and non-belonging including: Breaking the Class Ceiling, The Working Wardrobe, I Belong at Uni, Exeter's first Social Mobility Week, the Accent Equality Statement, the First-Generation Guide to University, Researching Social Mobility, Exeter Get Talking, and Exeter's first Class Pride Zine. She also hosted the award-winning radio show A Seat at the Table and led projects supporting bereaved, state-educated, working-class, regional and first-generation students.
Mia has collaborated with national organisations, represented student voices across the higher education sector, undertaken a research internship at the University of Cambridge, and is a 15-time university and national award short-listed nominee and award winner.
